Love is blind!

Posted by Cristina89 in Jan 25, 2010, under Uncategorized

LOVE IS BLIND!!!! is a saying we are all familiar with in this day and age but i think that even though we all know about it, we have stored it in a place where we have forgotten about it. Love is a beautiful things that exist among humans and sometimes we take it for granted.  Sometimes we forget that its not always about the looks or the materialistic things that make up a person because the hottest guy could be the biggest snob and the nerdiest guy could be your soul mate but you will never find out unless you give it a try.

i believe that as along as you find the person attractive to you then it doesnt matter what everyone else says. Everyone has a different taste or differnt qualities they want in a person. You shouldnt be afraid to show your thoughts with someone or be who you really are because there are those in the world that do not care what you look like but only who you really are.

Back then you wouldnt hear so much criticism and things seemed to be different and looks were not always at the top of the list. Then again things have changed over time and it has turned people into creeps. but i guess that everyone is different and has their own philosophy about it. “you cant teach an old dog new tricks.”

all i know is that my philosophy is that love does blind you and it is called unconditional love. we tend to block out a persons faults becuase we do deeply care about them that we accept the bad along with the good.

selfishness!!

Posted by Cristina89 in Jan 23, 2010, under stories of my life

One thing i can’t stand is when some people always have to have things their way or no way at all…you know “my way or the highway.” They always  got to be the one to control the situation, no other opinion matters but their’s, everything that happens to them is more important or worse or better then what happens to others, or they always got to be the ones to make plans because if its not some thing that they dont want or like then its no good. WHY?????

If i didnt do something just because i thought i wasnt going to like it or i didnt go somewhere because it was the kind of music i listend to or i didnt meet new people unless they are people i know then i would have a boring life. I mean i used to be the first person to say no i dont want to do this, or no im not going because i dont know anyone, im not going because no one likes me or they dont play the music i like or ive never done that why go? I have learned to come out of my shell and do different things. Its called having an open mind. Now that i have opened up to different things and learned not to be shy ive had so much fun.

I used to hate going out with one of my friends went she went with her friends because i didnt know anything. I would be the one sitting in the corner all quiet and then i would come across as the bitch because i would sit in my own little world. Ive learned that being that person that doesnt socialize, communicate, open their mind, or just have fun you will never get ahead in life. i mean just imagine you go to a job and your afraid to ask a question or you have to work with other employees or make a presentation? what are you going to do if you are still sitting in that little corner up in your own world.

I know a couple people that one of them alays listens to the same music. Its always where she wants to go and she makes the plans. If we go somewhere that doesnt play her music then oh hell breaks loose. ITS JUST NOT FAIR. I mean we went to a different club one day to celebrate a special day with someone and that person couldnt help but make the best of it and just have fun because there are good expereicnes and there are bad ones. Sure they played alot of songs that i didnt like but i still danced and had fun. But no that person was the one to just stand around and bitch because “ehat kind of crap is this, this music sucks, oh my god he is smoking or dam look at that girl, ewwww” umm yea let me think everyone is different buddy and people like different things and its not bead to listen to other types of music, a little variety never hurt anyone.

I cant stand people that are selfish yet at the same time you cant live without but you know what those are the kind of people that one day they will experience something or hear it from someone else and then they will say “dam what was i doing?’

Lucky!!!

Posted by Cristina89 in Jan 09, 2010, under stories of my life

I’ve come to realize that you barely ever find a good friend or two now days. sometimes it feels like you cant trust anyone because everyone seems to be consumed in their own little worlds.  But sometimes there are those certain individuals who are lucky enough to not find one but two amazing friends. one of those lucky people would be me.

its not everyday that you find friends that are there for you no matter what and know what makes you happy and what ticks you off. They are there for you through thick and thin and during those times that you just need a good laugh. They are those people that you could just call to hang out when you need to get away, no questions asked.

I have been fortunate enough to find my two best friends and they have shown me thr true meaning of friendship. The past three years have been extremely tough for me and they were there through it all. I am able to be honest and be myself with them no matter what. I know that i can count on them and they can count on me.

We are able to look at eachother without saying anything and we know exactly what the other is thinking. We are able to tell the other whats wrong and if we need to change anything or if something looks bad we dont hold back. I rather be honest with my friends then have a person thats no more than aquaintance agree with everything that  you say or not tell you what you need to hear. All i have to say is that im lucky and now i have two sisters that ive never had!!!

The Big Apple!

Posted by Cristina89 in Jan 07, 2010, under Uncategorized

WOW!!! NEW YORK CITY!!!! there is nothing like it. Nothing like spending quality family times during the holidays at NYC.  I left on the 26th of Dec, and came back the 30th of Dec. this was my 4th time going to New york. i love to visit but i would hate to live there. It is such a different lifestyle then what im used to here in Miami especially the diversity, the way people live, how you mostly walk everywhere, the rent is super expensive and so is everything else. and especially the weather… it just gets tooooooo cold there at winter time (hahaha). well this is besides the point.

I went with my family these holidays to new york and had an amazing time. we did so many things in just four days and it felt like forever. but we had a blast. ok well lets see where do i start.

On the first day we arrived at the apartment and had some minor difficulites with opening dscn2386the door and stood in the rain for about half an hour. Then like if that wasnt bad enough we got all drenched because the rain just wouldnt give up. Rain mixed with high winds just aint the scene i was hoping for. So since we couldnt do much, my mom and i took my brother and father to a Peruvian Restaraunt called Pio Pio; it was delicious just like the last time. after that we decided to go watch a movie; It’s Complicated was the movie. after that we decided to get a few groceries and then head back home. What a way to start the trip but we didnt let that get us down.

on the second day we deciddscn2461ed to head over to battery park and little did we know that we had to wait in a line for two hours to go see the Satue of Liberty. All i have to say is that it was worth every minute. We finally got to the statue of liberty and wow what a view; it was amazing. we took so many pictures to last us a lifetime. then when we got back, we were picked up by my dad’s cousin that took us around new york and to dinner. we couldnt ask for more; our personal tour guide, he was the best.

by the third day, monday, we went to China Town anddscn2596 did some damage but it was fun and exciting. lets just say we didnt come home empty handed hahaha. That day my father’s cousin joined us and took us to a little place there and we had some good chinese soup to ease the cold. after that we drove around site seeing and had some more fun. He then took us to a place he love to eat right outside timesquare called Ruby Foos, and it was real good. and then we walked around a little more enjoying the bright lights of Time Square.

by tuesday we were tired but we kept going. we got up and did some more site seeing. we went to the dscn2687Stock Echange the Washington memorial, saw the famous black bull, the old Bank of New york, we visited little italy and much more. The best part of the day was when we got to iceskate in Rockefeller Center. Wow what an expeience that didnt last more than 20 minutes. lets just say that we were there the coldest day of the year but i dont regret it.

By wednesday, our last day and the day we were leaving was the best. We went to grand central station and took a train to White plains, New York.  from there we took a helicoptor tour over new york in which my dads cousin was the pilot. that was the experience of a lifetime. when we were done we went  back and dscn2910walked around the city some more. one thing that i could leave without was my CHOCOLATE SURINGE!!! and i got it!!! hmmmmmm how good was that, pure milk choclate all for me. to end our trip we ate at my favorite restaraunt, Olive Garden, overlooking my favorite store, the M&M store. what a treat that was. then we rushed home to pack up our things clean up a little and head over to the airport.

the worse part about the trip was having to wait about 3 hours in the airport because our plane was delayed but ohwell more time in new york, i mean who could complain. So yea all in all the trip was amazing and worth to go back.

“It’s Complicated”

Posted by Cristina89 in Jan 07, 2010, under Uncategorized

Mamma Mia!!! Meryl Streep (Jane) outdid herself once again in captivating the audiences’ attention with her witty and carefree personality. In Mamma Mia she demonstrated a different side of her, but in “It’s complicated” she shows a more adventurous and independent personality. It has to be said that the director Nancy Meyers, one of the leading female directors in Hollywood today, did a great job in creating this film; she had the audience falling out of their seats with laughter.

Meyers has directed a lot of good romantic comedies such as “The Holiday,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “What Women Want,” and “The Parent Trap,” that all carry the consistent theme of adults finding love later in life. She carried on the same theme in “It’s Complicated” but added a bit of a twist to it. She is one of the few filmmakers left that dedicate her movies to adults but directed more towards women.

The appeal of “It’s complicated” doesn’t fully describe it. Jane is a 58 year old woman who after being divorced from Alec Baldwin (Jake) for ten years, got to do most of the things she has always wanted to do. Things then start to get better when Steve Martin (Adam) comes into the picture as her architect and sparks fly. As soon as she thinks that things are getting better, matters begin to get tricky when her and Jake begin having an affair. More like divorced with benefits.

Having been married and then having an affair makes the movie so much more interesting. The whole scenario, the characters and meaning of the movie is awesome. All the characters did an amazing job working with each other especially Streep and Baldwin. The special effects and the different scenes were perfect and blended well with the meaning of the film. It was interesting to see how Meyers incorporated the meaning of a family sticking together and how you could still find love at a later time in life.

Meyers shows another side of adults and how they are not always perfect because they all have a past. She showed things that they used to do and the troubles that they go through in their everyday lives. Meyers turned the problems that should be no joking matter into a full blown comedy. It is a laugh out loud, falling out of your seat kind of funny! It was good how she used a lot of variety to acquire to everyone’s taste especially women. This is a have to see movie. I would have to give it two thumbs up!

memories are a way of holding on to the past!!!

Posted by Cristina89 in Dec 17, 2009, under Uncategorized

Since the day were  born we come into a world full of new people, new experiences, and new things that soon all turn into memories. Memories stay a part of us forever and even though some of those memories may not be as nice as the others but they are there for a reason and make us who we are. Memories are also a way for us to hold onto the past and to things that we love. Even though it might be hard to cope with the hard ones we learn to live with them.

I think that when we can make an experience into a memory it worth living. We never know what will come of it till we actually go through it.  Me as a person have overcome so many good and bad experiences in my life and have shared experiences with others. Those experiences now are not all happy ones but when i think back to the happy moments shared with those people just put a smile on my face.

For example i have now  experienced something very sad with a friend. All i know is that i am there for that person just like she is there for me. I felt hurt when she broke the horrible news to me because to know that she is suffering and in pain. I know that for what she is going through, she is going to have many memories that will soon put a smile on her face when she looks back on them.  It might be tough now and a big pump on the road but everything happens for a reason and who knows what will come of it in the future.

all i know is that we all create memories, good and bad, and those memories shape us as a person because sometimes those are also mistakes that we learn from and help us become better people!!

STRESS!!!!

Posted by Cristina89 in Dec 03, 2009, under Uncategorized

STRESS is the spice of life!!! Just think about it if we had nothing to worry about or nothing to do in life it would be boring or maybe even gone or something who knows!! then again having stress isnt the greatest thing either. i mean take me for example i dont handle stress very well. for example i had to go to a cardiologist one time because my chest and arm and neck were all hurting and just take a wild guess what it was STRESS!!!! The doctor told me that i needed to calm down and try to limit the amount of stuff i juggle in a one day.

here is the problem as a student, we have so many test and alot of homework and just knowingf that you failed a test or that you got to retake the course stresses you out. I think that its all one big cycle.teachers put stress on students and then the stressed out student is angry and takes it out on someone else and that person gets angry and takes it out on another person and the chain continues….its all very simple!!!!

Another thing i dont like is that people think that they cant take a break or a day to themselves to relax because they have to get things done. well thats is just unhealthy. You see i dont get much sleep at all monday -friday but i know that when saturday and sunday come i like to sleep in and relax and do a little something for myself…..there is nothing wrong with that. If you body doesnt get any time to unwind, sooner or later you will just crash or get very weak or feel pains and let me tell you its no fun!!! but i guess no matter what we are always going to be worried or stressed over something. when you think about it from the moment you wake up sometimes you just stress out over what you are going to wear that morning but what can we do besides set aside some time to relax!!

Mentality from the past!!!

Posted by Cristina89 in Nov 24, 2009, under Uncategorized

Apparently it is womens’ jobs to stay home all day to cook and clean. Lately ive been hearing from a couple guys that its our duty to do that…i mean how cruel is that. I kow that back in the day it was a womens’ job to stay home all day cooking, cleaning and raising the children while the mean went to work all day because of course they were the only ones that could.

well news flash ….. times have changed. now days you see some men stay home while their wives go to work or some men cook and clean a little to help out their spouse i mean there is nothing wrong with that…. a little housework never hurt anyone. Some guys still think that women have to follow behind them all day and clean up after their ever move ….I DONT THINK SO!!! i mean we have a life too and we would like to enjoy it without having to worry about cleaning up a room again because someone messed it up once again.

If i spend over an hour cleaning a bathroom and then happy because it came out spotless i would get extrmely aggrevated to see a guy walk in and dirty it. I cant stand when they come in shave and leave the hair all over the sink, toothpaste stuck to the sink, their clothes thrown on the floor, and their towel out of place…. i mean how hard is it to clean up after yourself. No girl is impressed with those imperfections.

I think that these kind of men should get rid of that mentality from the past and learn a little of what i like to call CONSIDERATION!!!!!!

Dont judge a book by its cover!!!!

Posted by Cristina89 in Nov 20, 2009, under Uncategorized

I’ve always heard people say “dont judge a book by its cover.” when i was younger though i never reall got what people were trying to say till i gained a few years of knowledge. I have learned that sometimes the people that seem the happiest could actually be the saddest. I used to be one of those people that  would judge someone just be their actions or the way they looked till i started going through things in my life.

I have also learned that sometimes its best to put a smile on inspite of how much it hurts and move on and dont just spill out your feelings to the world because what is the point on making everyone else feel your pain. I walk out of my house everyday with a smile on my face and glad to be healthy and alive inspite of how much pain or sadness i could be in. My family has been through so much in the last 3 years and is still experiencing some problems that people do not even imagine.

You look at us and we seem like the happiest people in the world and i guess we just do a great job at hiding it. I have also learned that why would  you bother sweating the small things when there are biggger and better things in life that worht so much more. When you look at a group of people and you see that one kid that sits in the corner and doesnt socialize or anything that right there could be ther happiest person in the world compared to the person with a great big smile on their face as if they dont have a care in the world.

I guess when you really analyze the situation, the people who are hurt deep down inside can hide the pain better then those who dont! its the weirdest thing!!

Behind the scenes!

Posted by Cristina89 in Nov 19, 2009, under stories of my life

Being in the newsroom has really opened up my eyes to the world behind the newspaper. This week was layout week and we had to learn how construct the pages and how to place the articles. We had to learn how to format a photo and fix its levels and how it has to be on CMY color for this issue.

i really enjoyed it because i like being creative with pictures and words. I went the first day and by the second day i was already working on my second page. I guess when your really interested in something you put alot of effort into it.

I have learned that there is so much more to a newspaper then just writing. Since I’m majoring in journalism and love to write this is a great experience for me. To tell you the truth i don’t mind doing it for a living. I enjoy being in the newsroom working on the paper and just having a good laugh with Igor, Liz, Kelly, and bruno!!!

I cant wait till next semester to learn more and be more involved with the paper. So far this has been an exciting experience.newspaper
